Wuxi Turbine Blade Co., Ltd is the largest turbine blade professional manufacturer for power stations in China and is listed one of the first batch hi-tech enterprises in Jiangsu Province. Turbine blades belong to hi-tech products in machine-building industry。Turbine blades are most critical parts in power generation facilities, and are called the core of power station. The manufacturing level of turbine blades reflects the comprehensive capability of metallurgical, material, machine building, process design and technology in the manufacturing industry of a country. Through 30 years-continuous effort, the company has been developed into the largest professional turbine blade manufacturer with the annual output of large blades over 200,000pieces. Over 100 kinds of last two stages blades for 200MW, 300MW, 600MW, 900MW, 1000MW turbines were developed and produced. The applications cover from subcritical units to super-critical units to extra super-critical units, from water-cooling units to air-cooling units, from thermal power generating units to nuclear power units, from steam turbine units to gas turbine units, and with the blade length from 400mm to now the longest 1600mm. WTB’s capacity of large blades has been placed in the world top three. The accumulated production of the 30 years reaches over one million pieces, almost every large thermal power generating units equipped blades made from WTB. Large size steam turbine blades have been covered over 80% market share in China. WTB has passed QA certification by numbers of world top turbine manufacturers. The products are exported to Japan, Italy, France, America and other countries and regions and the annual export value reached of 20 millions of US dollars.

With the implementation of “Manufacturing Equipment Update Project for Last Three Stages Blades of low-pressure cylinder for Super-critical Units”, “Manufacturing Equipment Innovation Project for Large Blade of 100MW units”, “Technical Innovation Project for 9H Series Combined Cycle System Compressor blade”, “Manufacturing technology innovation project for high-efficiency Turbine Blade” and “Manufacturing Technology Innovation Project for Blades of Nuclear Power and Combined Cycle System Units”, billions of technical innovation fund is invested to import large number of advanced machining equipment, including multi-axis NC machining centers, deep grinding machines for root machining, horizontal and vertical profile CNC milling machines to update the company’s manufacturing equipment level in a short period of time and to realize programmed machining and NC machining for blades machining, thereafter expanded our production capacity and improved products quality and further allowed WTB to satisfy the customers requirement on delivery and quality.
Realize the process innovation by relying on the progress of science and technology:
The science and technology development target of WTB is to “laid down a solid foundation，build up technical advantages, pursuit long term and sustainable development”. After developing the large blade of the last stage for 300MW/600MW units and made it into a mass production, WTB has developed and produced the large blade of the last stage for super-critical and ultra super-critical units of 900MW and 1000 MW successfully. WTB occupies 90% of the domestic market share of large blades of the last stage for 300MW/600MW units, which shows the important position of WTB in large size blade market. At the same time, WTB makes great effort to cooperate with universities and colleges. A blade technology research center is founded by WTB and Jiangnan University. With the help of research advantages on science and technology and human resources of the university, this unique combination provides a new pass to improve the blade machining technology, and further accelerate the implement of new process and technology. Technology transformation of WTB has been basically achieved in a short period of time. The aim of “Programmed machining and profile NC machining for blade manufacture” is realized in WTB. The upgrading of technology has led to the expansion of capacity and improvement of product quality. Over 30 years, products and manufacturing technology have won the national level, the Ministry, provincial and municipal scientific and technological progress awards and new product awards for several times. In national scientific and technological projects of "sixth-five plan", "seventh-five plan", honorary award certificates were issued jointly to WTB by the State Planning Commission, Economic Commission, Science and Technology Commission, the Ministry of Finance. Blades with the length of 267, 474 and 869mm of last three stages for 300MW/600MW turbines won the first prize of Major Technical Equipment of the State Council. Last 3 stages blade for 300MW steam turbine was classified First-class by Department of Machine Building-industry of Jiangsu province. WTB was regarded as one of the world’s outstanding suppliers by Toshiba, in 2003 and 2005. The last three stages blade for 300MW/600MW turbine was approved to be the famous brand product of Wuxi City in 2003-2005 and 2006-2008. The last two stages blade of low-pressure cylinder for 300MW/600MW turbine was approved to be the most satisfactory products for machinery customers in 2005. A quality examination for the last three stages blade of low-pressure cylinder for 300MW/600MW turbine (DZ321) and the last stage blade of low-pressure cylinder for 600MW super-critical turbine (S1050) was made by Wuxi Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Institute in Sep. 2006, and the qualification rate was awarded to be the first-class. A quality examination for the last stage blade of low-pressure cylinder for 300MW/600MW turbine (S905C) was made by Shanghai Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Research Institute in May, 2007, and the qualification rate was graded to be the first-class.
